The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have announced a daily suspension of military operations in select Gaza regions to address worsening humanitarian conditions. The “tactical pause” will be observed from 10 am to 8 pm local time in Muwasi, Deir al-Balah, and Gaza City, starting Sunday and continuing until further notice.
Humanitarian Aid Corridors
As part of the initiative, the IDF will establish protected corridors to ensure safe passage for aid organisations, enabling the delivery of food, medical supplies, and other essentials to Gaza’s civilians. Despite previous claims of no active combat in these areas, recent weeks have seen aerial strikes and ground operations, resulting in casualties and growing international pressure.
Response to Famine Concerns
This move comes amid mounting warnings from humanitarian agencies about an impending famine due to restricted aid access. Reports of hundreds of Palestinian deaths near food distribution points in recent weeks have intensified global criticism, including from Israel’s key allies.
Aid Airdrops Resumed
The IDF confirmed that aid airdrops have been reinstated to counter rising food insecurity. Military officials stressed that these humanitarian measures will continue alongside ongoing operations against Hamas and other militant groups.
